Top Downtown Spots For Large Groups

There is nothing better than a Charleston trip with your entire squad. From beaches to boating, restaurants, and an amazing bar scene, there is an endless list of ways to spend your vacation. However, we know it can be tough finding places to fit the whole crew without a reservation. We’ve compiled a list of our favorite low key spots that are perfect for larger groups when you are looking for somewhere to eat, drink, and keep the party going after your Saltwater Cycle cruise (matching shirts/crazy outfits approved)!

Edmund’s Oast Brewing Company & Taproom

This space features adjoining taproom and restaurant to enjoy an all-day casual food menu, 20 house-brewed beers on tap, wine, and cocktails, and truly delicious pizza. The best part about EOBC is its spacious outdoor seating options on a patio that also features the famous Co-Op Outpost for Charleston’s best frose, as well as the mouth-watering Rancho Lewis (coming soon to the space). Whatever your group is in the mood for, you can find it here with plenty of room and a great atmosphere!

Blind Tiger

Blind Tiger is not only one of the most historic pubs in town, but also *in our opinion* the best courtyard. The long tables out back are perfect for larger groups. We also highly recommend coming back-or just staying- at Blind Tiger for a night out. The crowd is a great mix of locals who want to escape the hustle and bustle of King Street bars. *Pro tip-try the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich*

Uptown Social

At some point over the course of your trip, it is a safe bet that your group will end up Uptown Social. With 3 levels, 4 bars, bands, DJ’s, and an energy you can’t beat, this is where the party is. However, during the day if you are looking for the perfect place to soak up some seltzers, Uptown Social pizza dough bites and chicken parm sandwich are a must. Grab some pitchers, a booth, and enjoy the amazing staff! Chances are you will probably end up back there at night. 😜

Hometeam/Revelry

These two are absolute staples of Charleston and conveniently right around the corner from one another! Hometeam BBQ is the perfect place to post up either inside or outside with a large group, get a few orders of the nachos and wings, and try the famous Game Changer (have one and you’ll understand the name). There are more than a dozen TV’s for any sports fans out there (heads up for Georgia fans, this is your spot).

Afterwards, head over to Revelry Brewery for some of Charleston’s best local craft beers on their rooftop. Both places are spacious, great local energy, and have awesome dog spotting (always a plus 🐕).

Container Bar

Container Bar is an off the beaten path hidden gem that always has plenty of sunshine, big picnic tables, and a rotating schedule of food trucks. There is always something going on, whether it’s a game on TV, pop-up shop, oyster roast, or live music. If the food trucks aren’t what your squad is craving, you can order online from the sister restaurant right next door, Rutledge Cab Company, and the staff will bring it to you! Fun fact about both spots: Bill Murray is an owner of both and a Charleston local. You never know when he might pop in!
